Duisburg’s community center, Pachthof Stroykens, will reopen on May 1, under the management of two local entrepreneurs, Jeroen Vandenbussche and Tom Spooren. Rooted in the local community, the new operators aim to transform the venue into a vibrant space for connection, culture, and recreation.
Far from being just a cafeteria, Pachthof Stroykens aspires to host a variety of activities, including sports event broadcasts, cultural performances, art exhibitions, and local celebrations. Moreover, it will serve as a hub for cycling and hiking enthusiasts, offering an information point for visitors to explore nearby trails.
Vandenbussche and Spooren, both active on the local association scene, are committed to supporting community groups and fostering collaboration. They envision Pachthof as a home for all generations, where people can gather and create lasting memories.
Local council members have expressed their support for the initiative. Alderman for local economy Jan Trappeniers emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “The operators embody with their proposal the vision of where we want to go with our cafés in the community centers. Actively building a strong community. We also want to create more room for initiative and input for them and the other concession operators.”
Additionally, the facility will operate six days a week, with Monday as the designated closing day. Visitors can look forward to a welcoming atmosphere and affordable options.
The grand reopening event on May 1 promises to mark the beginning of a new chapter for Pachthof Stroykens, solidifying its role as a cornerstone of Duisburg’s community life.
